Agartala, Oct 6 (FD) Tripura High Court today ordered formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a police officer at the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to investigate into the alleged charges of politics and corruption in the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA).
Justice Arindam Lodh on Friday heard the case again and ordered the constitution of a SIT to investigate allegations of corruption against the erstwhile executive committee of the TCA headed by Tapash Ghosh as secretary.
Justice Lodh today heard the case filed by president of the cricket body Tapan Lodh and others on alleged corruption indulged in by Tapas Ghosh, Timir Chanda etc.
Earlier, the court had appointed retired IG B.K.Roy as amicus curie to investigate into the charges of corruptions. Roy had submitted seven page report and reportedly confirmed certain allegations on the basis of available evidence.
Justice Lodh today made an enquiry of the report filed by B.K. Roy and read out his report during hearing of the case. The judge reportedly found gross financial irregularities while installing flood lights in the MBB cricket stadium. According to the findings installing one flood light tower in a cricket stadium in other states require expenses of Rs 1 crore and by that account Rs 4 crores should have been spent for installing four flood light towers in the MBB cricket stadium but the expense shown on this head is Rs 17 crores.
The rival faction of the former TCA group headed Timir Chanda and Tapas Ghosh seems jubilant over the Judgement pronounced by Justice Arindam Lodh. FD JK
